Summer in New York: Lush Greens and Vibrant Prints at Sarara Vintage

As it finally warms up here in NY, I wanted to highlight the new summer looks that have arrived at Sarara Vintage. To celebrate the dress, I posted about vintage wedding dress styles from the 1800s-1970s.  There are a number of new ones in the shop as well as fresh fun print dresses, with more coming soon.  There is a long enduring history of skirts and dresses which they come in many forms. You can check out some articles such as the history of women's dresses and the remarkable history of the dress.  Also, there are some fun spots such as nymag's 50 most scandalous dresses in history. I love art deco magic of the 30s gown designs for a evening look and the 70s boho cotton dress for a comfortable style that I can wear with my favorite jewelry.  The 60s dresses in their simple cuts and great prints are always a hit!  So stop by for some fun frocks and vibrant accessories!

Summer time and the living is easy....

Summertime is right around the corner. It has been a long winter for many of you. Spring is here, flowers and trees are blooming and all is right with the world.

Let us have fun with some novelty items for summer to get us feeling happy and content.

Enjoy your summer by wearing some great vintage pieces that have so much charm and flair and are timeless. Such creative minds designed the following items.
All are available at www.vintageweartreasures.etsy.com.  Have a great summer!

New Spring Summer Vintage at Noble Savage Vintage

Spring has had a late arrival here in Brooklyn, NY, but we want you to be fashionably prepared for the upcoming warm and sunny weather.    Expect lots of new Spring/ Summer Vintage additions to the shops on Ruby Lane and Etsy.  I am busy editing photos of Vintage day and evening wear from the 1920's through the 1960's,  with a few irresistible additions from the 80s as well.
Here is a sampling of what's new with so much more to come.

Pair this fun plaid Jantzen set with sandals, ballet flats, heels, or Keds.  This versatile ensemble is so now with it's high rise cropped pants and matching blouse that doubles as the perfect springtime jacket.

Vintage 1950's Jantzen Plaid Cropped Playset, XS

Pull on this dress and go.  It's the color of the season and is in a wrinkle resist poly.  Need I say more?

1960's Mod A-Line Zip Front Jeanne West Dress NOS , M

This dress is sure to inspire.  Early 1940's cotton ditsy print with a tulle overlay skirt and matching cropped jacket.  Take a closer look and you will see that the stripes on the skirt are thin strips of self fabric individual applied to the tulle overlay.  Incredible.

Vintage 1940s Maxi Sundress in Yellow Ditsy Print Cotton with Jacket, XXS

The fabulous Anne Fogarty sundress in a coppery orange cotton sateen.  You don't know how tempted I am to keep this beauty.  This quality dress is early 50's but the fabric maintains it's sheen and it's bold color, as if it were made just today.

1950s Anne Fogarty Dress, XS

1950's Cameo New York cocktail dress with wrapped pleated bodice and original belt in a beautiful iridescent sage green color.
...and finally, the Pièce de résistance, an amazing New Look style silk faille gown in white with matching gloves, by high end maker Filcol.  You must click on the link and take a look at the incredible back treatment.

I LOVE the 1930's  The fashions were so soft and feminine.  I always think of Myrna Loy in the Thin Man

or Jean Harlow in Hold Our Man with Clark Gable

Now you can re-create these wonderful feminine fashions for yourself.

Antique and Vintage Gym Suits at Noble Savage Vintage

I seem to have accumulated a nice little collection of Vintage and antique Gym Suits and have recently added them to my shops, Noble Savage Vintage on Ruby Lane and Etsy.

This Turn of the Century Edwardian gym suit, made by the Columbia Gymnasium and Bathing Suit Company, will make a fine addition to your antique sportswear collection. More for a collector, but certainly wearable.  26" waist.

These fabulous 1920's gym bloomers in black wool serge are just about mint and have a label with the owners name, Lorraine Eddy. 27" Waist.
This  is a seriously cool Moore romper styled gym suit red fabricated in Sanforized Plus 100% cotton. Gym class might be more fun if schools brought back these cutie pie play suits. XS
Another Moore gym suit, this one from the 1950s.  Also and XS.
Last but hardly least, another Moore gym suit from the 1950's, this one with a 31" waist, so about a size Large.
