It is time for that time honored tradition ‘The Easter Parade’. Starting as a spontaneous event in 1870, it became a seasonal tradition in many towns over the US but especially on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Participants dressed in their finery to display themselves marching up and down the streets but the Easter Bonnet is the main attraction. Women adorn their heads with the most elaborate millinery creations to be admired and envied. In 1947 the State Department’s *Voice of American* did a radio broadcast of the parade to the Soviet Union to show the economic inferiority of the Soviet system. In 1955 *The Saturday Evening Post*stated that the New York springtime pageant was only an incidental celebration of a religious holiday, and had become a reflection of the fact that in American a person was as good as the clothes he or she was able to buy.

Below for your viewing please the Vintage Reflection sellers have put forth a display of their Easter best.

I'm in love the New Edwardian and Victorian Collection

Recently, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go through a family clothing collection which had been untouched for a few generations. The home was a Victorian that the same family had occupied for three generations. Each one had left something in the home. The attic was full, the basement and the closets. This collection features some stunning Edwardian pieces, one dress in particular is a wonderful wine color with embellishments and in excellent condition. I have almost all of them currently listed in the shop.

Sarara Vintage: 1880's-1915

*All of these items are currently available in the shop, Sarara Vintage on Etsy, with the exception of the Edwardian dress which will be at the Manhattan Vintage Show in April.

Pretty In Pastels

As a child I was a bit of a Tom Boy, or Tom Ghoul (as I would say before learning to properly pronounce my R's).  I have to admit that it took me a rather long time to really develop a taste for these soft colors, but develop a taste I did!  I do love my pastels;  particularly when paired with nudes, metallic golds and silvers, and especially with bright accents of shocking pink.

Pastels are the talk of the town this Spring thanks in part to films such as The Artist and the upcoming Gatsby movie as well as Boardwalk Empire and of course Mad Men.  How could designers not be inspired or at least influenced by the lovely palletes and silhouettes of the 1920's -30's as well as the early 1960's.

Here are a few of my favorite pastel pieces currently available at the Noble Savage Vintage shop on Ruby Lane.

ca. 1920's Cotton Voile Embroidered Smocked Dress in Peach

A fabulous frock from the earlier end of the Twenties cut in a peachy keen cotton voile with orange and white embroidered accents.

ca. Late 1920's Fabulous Floral Caped Day Dress

Tip toe, through the tulips in this later 1920's day dress with brighter citrus shades printed over the buttercup yellow and pale blue roses

ca. 1930's Green Silk Chiffon Bias Cut Dress

A bias cut chiffon confection with a fabulous ruffled collar and gathered sleeves in a soft, yet minty sorbet green.  Hungry yet?

ca. 1960's Silk Brocade Shift Dress

The pastel blue base on this silk brocade bombshell dress, really gives it a sophisticated edge.

and for the boudoir...

ca. 1930's Bonwit Teller Velvet and Marabou Dress Gown

what could be more glamourous than a 1930s dressing gown of marabou and velvet

ca. 1930's Pink Schiffli Embroidery Envelope Chemise Teddy

or a peachy pink teddy with a sweet cutwork/ schiffli embroidery
