This tiny 1-1/2 inch silver case with silver chain and small charm attached lay for many years in a display case that I took to my Vintage fashion Shows. Many guests asked me what it was but all I could reply was that it held tiny wax matches. At my latest show I had a guest from England and she said to me "Oh I see you have a vesta" She went on to say that she guessed it would have been used in the late 20's or 30's for women who chose to smoke. Women who did smoke had to do so discreetly. The match striker is at the bottom. If anyone could recognize the symbol on the charm please let me know. I have just completed the Vintage Fashion Show and proceed went to the Salvation Army so now I am hoping to have some time freed up to post more regularly.
