Issey Miyake Pleats Please fruit sundae print dress

Fabulous Pleats Please dress from the renown Japanese designer Issey Miyake. It carries a woven label "Pleats Please", the content/care and size tag is all in Japanese. There is also a card hang-tag for Pleats Please.

Bust = 32" - 40" (unstretched - stretched)

Length = 47" (shoulder to hem)

Hem circumference (stretched) = 54"

The dress is in a rich creamy-beige colour, with a printed panel at the front in pink depicting a fruit sundae and a ladle drizzling syrup over it. The printed dresses are unusual and very much a sought-after collectors item.

Pleats Please is one of the many clothing lines made by the designer Issey Miyake, known for his technology-driven clothing designs. Pleats Please is a line resulting from his experimentation with new methods of pleating that would allow both flexibility of movement for the wearer as well as ease of care and production. This resulted in a new technique called Garment Pleating , and in Pleats Please, in which the garments are cut and sewn first, and then sandwiched between layers of paper and fed into a heat press, where they are pleated. The fabric's "memory" holds the pleats, and when the garments are freed from the paper cocoon, they are ready-to-wear.
