Vintage Clothes and Marilyn

This Month we celebrate Marilyn Monroe (1926-62) as our Style Icon and embrace anything curvy.

Marilyn was born as Norma Jean Mortenson in Los Angeles. The combination of innocent charisma and bombshell looks
made her an icon for anything that is Hollywood glamour.

Some of her famous quotes are here to stay:
"The body is meant to be seen not all covered up"
"I dont know who invented shoes, but all women own him a lot"
"I dont mind leaving in a man's world as long as i can be a woman in it"
Her carefully set, platinum blonde hair, her "veiled" look with false eyelashes in the outer corners of the eyes , her moist lips that were always half open and her tiny spot - are her trademark. Marilyn is everything that a women should be!

Today i am afraid women lost this magic of 50's or 40's but we can still find our inner self and embrace it. Also a bit of red lipstick will help. Unfortunately we can't transform you into Marilyn (we wish we were a Fairy Godmother!) but we can certainly transform you into a woman. Vintage clothes can do that.
So if you want to recreate Marilyn's look you need Vintage clothes that accentuate the body and show off your curves. Even if you are thin a fitted dress will give you curves if you cinch the waist with a belt to create an illusion.

Movies we love to watch with Marilyn for vintage
inspiration are:

  • Something's Got to Give (1962)
  • Some like it hot (1959)
  • The Seven year itch (1955)
  • How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)
  • Gentlemen prefer Blonde (1953)
