A "Movie Star" Evening Dress, and a Horsey Sweater

Vintage 40’s Movie Star Evening Cocktail Dress Sequined Trim
Dramatic and sexy, this full length evening gown or cocktail dress is reminiscent of such Hollywood films like Casablanca and Vivian Leigh…and since there is no label I am calling it my Movie Star dress…I can just imagine them in it.
With a deep almost maroon color but with a tint of rust in it, it hangs much more beautifully than it does on the form I have photographed here. The most unique is the slanted flap in the front that is embellished with a curling tiny gold rope and clear sequins. The trim is a muted gold in effect. This matches the trim on the ¼ length sleeves. The collar is left simple to wear your best matching necklace with. A simple waist with no belt loops, so I believe it is not meant to be worn with a belt. The back is a simple hook and eye closing at the top of the neck
A side zipper (metal) closes up the tight fitted waist. This is probably a size 6 or 8. From shoulder to waist is 18”. From waist to hem is 32”. The back shoulder to shoulder is 15.5”.
I would call the fabric a crepe’ that hangs beautifully and moves very nicely. It is a straight skirt.
The back waist has a V-insert just below the waist seam that gives it just a bit of gather in back skirt. Very flattering.
Be the romantic starlit with a Gardenia in your hair... the next time you have a night on the town. Wear this stunning dress and watch the heads turn!

Bulky Knit Horse Pattern Zipper Cardigan Sweater
This special and unique pre-worn sweater has the image of a large fabulous horses head woven into the knit back and a horseshoe on the left front.
The images are in black, gray and white yarn set on a sky blue yarn.
While the condition of this medium sized sweater is very good, (no holes or stains), there is some minor pilling of the bulky yarn fibers, which are easily removed with a pumice. The inside back panel has a blue velvet appliqué to protect the knitted stitch work of the horses head.
There are no labels on the inside. But the perfectly working metal zipper (rather than plastic) tells me that this is a vintage sweater.
The measurement from the shoulder to the front hem is 23” and mid-shoulders across the back is 19”. The yarn is heavy and warm and will make a wonderful Fall cover up, boasting your love of horses as well!
Thats' it for now from My Attic's Charms. But there's more at my sight and more to come!
