White Stag - Serving the Nation for the Duration

I recently found this great 1940s wartime catalog on eBay. Even though the catalog does not tell how White Stag was serving the nation, like most American manufacturers, White Stag found their business greatly affected by the war. To see more of the pages and read about these war how these wartime work clothes influenced the way women dress, visit The Vintage Traveler.

Emanuel Ungaro's Exotic Vision at

We're pretty confident the warrior woman look has cycled through the marketplace to the point of exhaustion and that it's time for something more demure, for sensuality, unadorned beauty and a bit of romance. All of which can be found in these signature mid 80's Emanuel Ungaro pieces we picked up along the way. So, until the chiefs at Ungaro hire someone who'll respect and utilize the house's incredible archive and put the label back in party mode, we're content to offer you this carefully chosen assortment of Ungaro at it's best.

In Full Bloom
80's Ungaro Floral Silk Blouse

Party girls the world over turned to Ungaro for his perfect cocktail numbers and ruched pieces, but it's his recognizable floral prints that are often sadly overlooked. Take this back-buttoned green silk blouse with it's bulbous floral & strawberry print, it makes a winning combination with our velvet skirt for cocktail hour, or dress it down with distressed denims for a look that's powerful yet breezily louche.

80's Ungaro Brocade Jacket

Leave it to Ungaro to update the classic quilted Chanel style jacket in a luxe metallic blue & green Chinoiserie floral print that's hyper-bourgeois yet quietly ostentatious.

Pencil Yourself In
80's Ungaro Velvet Pencil Skirt

The high-waist body-con pencil skirt having become a wardrobe essential over the past few years, and with velvet itself making a major comeback, this 80's era Ungaro beauty doesn't disappoint with it's sumptuous textured velvet composition and rich purple tone.

Pattern Collectors I need help

I have had this Infant pattern from Madame Weigel's for years, and have hesitated listing it, because I knew nothing about it's age or origin. I have been researching the company and have found some fascinating information. Madame Weigel was Johanna Wilhelmine Weigel (1847-1940) and her biography can be found in the Australian Dictionary of Biographies.

But I still can't put a date or era to this adorable infant wardrobe. The few patterns I have found from the 40's and 50's have a very different envelope design. 10/06 is written on the front cover, but I haven't a clue if that is a date or some other notation. I've had it since about 2000, so I know it doesn't signify 2006. LOL

If anyone can help me date this lovely, I would be most appreciative.

WallflowerVintage presents: Let the Games Begin

Show him your softer side in a black cocktail dress or a nifty 70s halter gown.
Sparkles in your eyes as well as on your dress. Sweet silver tinsel or black sequins - he won't be able to keep his eyes off of you.
A velvet dance frock or an Audrey Hepburn-esque cocktail dress will stand up to an eventful night.

Prom season is fast approaching. Hair, makeup, shoes, and *sigh* boys, boys, boys, as well as banquet halls turned into high stakes contact sports arenas are on the agenda.
A simple black and white approach liberates the spirit and brings more formality into the fray.

Mad Men Sweaters........Hot Hot Hot

Three SWeeeeeeet sweaters. They could be from the very late 50's but I really think they are very early 60's.........but whenever they are from they are Special........

The brown one is an unmarked fabric. It has the feel and look of an Angora blend. There is no label on it, just a Dry Cleaners tag. So that leads me to believe that it is at least a blend of natural and synthetic and not all synthetic yarn. It has a double collar and ribbed cuffs at sleeve end and waist. Bust measures 36 inches.

This pretty yellow sweater has beautiful leaves stamped on the front. Ribbed collar, cuffs and waist with grosgrain ribbon binding on the front facing. It is Orlon/Acrylic and from Devon the bust measures 34.

This Rusty Red Beauty is a Pendelton Wool and is marked a Size 38. The bust measures 40. It has a ribbed collar, cuffs and the front facing is ribbed also.........

All can be found this week on cemetarian on eBay

WallflowerVintage presents: Sunflowers

What's that in between time - you know - I think some of us refer to it as March. Not winter, not Spring, usually winter, still winter. A sunshiny dress and vintage jeans jacket may help get you over the cold in and out like a lion days. Just think - in April you may even get to shuck your boots and wear the sunflower dress sans jacket.
