8 Questions With The Vintage Scarf Creator Paula M Horlick:How did you get into fashion? Tell me how and when everything started.
Actualy it started when I was young. I am adopted and my grandmother was 82 when she passed in 1979. My senior year in High School. She had the real grandmother clothes that you see in vintage magazines and she had a closet that she would be my dress-up closet. She had the old head scarves and the printed dresses.
When did you first know that you wanted to be in fashion?
That came as kind of an idea a couple of years ago. I have real estate background so I have self taught myself everything I know.
If you weren’t in the fashion industry, what would you like to be doing?
Home Enterior and Staging.
Tell us about your fabulous store and what products or serviced do you offered?
The Vintage Scarf is an online boutique only at the moment. However, I do have a small shop not far from where I live that gave me the storefront for my scarf collection. That just happened so I am anxious to see how it goes. Sorry, got off the subject. The Vintage Scarf specializes in one of a kind vintage scarves and scarf accessories. Which means they are real vintage I do not make them and there is only 1 of each kind on my website. I am also a vendor of my scarf collection just like the boutique mentioned above I would love to get my scarves into other boutiques around the United States.
How would you describe your personal style?
LOL you don’t want to know. When I am at home working which is 90% of the time I wear sweats. When I worked for Corporate America I wore dockers.
Are there any special projects you would like to work on?
I am working on one know and that is having scarf parties. The headline is Lets Tie On One it a scarf party! I have hosted 2 and I am getting people interested in having them at their home. I bring about 120 scarves and my mannequins and we just have fun. I show them all the ways to tie a scarf and different things you can do with them. My favorite is wrapping a gift in a scarf.
Which magazines do you read? Which magazine is your favorite?
I love Southern Living and Country Home I get a lot of ideas from them. I have to also say OUCH Magazine in New York because the editor Rhonda did an awesome photo shoot with my scarves.
What motivates you?
When something good happens it gives me the push that I need to keep going and doing what I love.
