80s Shoes and Style Icons

The eighties as a style touchstone are back. Though distressing (no pun intended) to some, the eighties are circa vintage twenty-plus, with plenty to appreciate from a fashion standpoint. There was a lot of generation of new ideas, innovative use of fabrics, and recycling of old ideas with inventive twists, and the gamut of short and long hem lengths. If nothing else, those high waisted green denim jeans and enormous shoulder padded tops stand out as style icons for a generation of women's clothing.

Just one example of the reinvention of a classic is these Nine West shoes, which use faux spat like buttons on a bootie shoe that is at once functional, pixie-like, ska punky, professional, and retro early 2oth century.
