The Luck O' the Irish Be Upon Ye

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, its time to start thinking GREEN. And this Irish gal (well, Ok, I married into it) likes to celebrate by drinking some green beer. If you don't want to get pinched that day, its a requirement to wear something green too. So, check out the vintage sellers at Main Street Vintage! We have lots of pretty GREEN in our stores. The slides shows just a sample. Have fun shopping!

Fabulous Flapper's Really Knew How to do it Underneath

I can't believe that I actually have 2.....count em.......TWO such lovely Roaring Twenties pieces at the same time. I've had other's and I've seen others, but I don't think I've ever seen (and know I've never had) such beautiful pieces as these two slips.

The first is barley a garment. It is two little silk diamonds held together with some thread and air. Needle Lace of the finest and filmiest quality. Thin silk straps and an attaching strap between the legs. Words fail me. Simply Stunning. And found HERE

And this set! The slip is spectacular in itself........ Ivory Acetate Satin with tatted lace trim, big bow with orange blossoms and silk ribbon drawstring. But to actually have the 20's Binder Bra to go with it. How lucky is that? And it's found HERE

Amazing vintage costume jewelry: Fantastic prices!

Many of you know me from my former selling name, Lone Star Vintage Clothing. I sold my vintage clothing inventory this past December, but kept my vintage costume jewelry, vintage lingerie and vintage sewing stuff (vintage patterns, fabric, etc.). I had to change my seller name on eBay as well as to the world because I sold my personal domain name/website last week and no longer want to be associated with that name (I know, very sad). My new seller name is, "My Vintage Things."

Here are a few things I have up for grabs this week (click on each pic to be redirected to that item):
I'm also cleaning out my closet and have some great vintage lingerie and vintage clothing up for auction as well. Please be sure to stop by. You just might find something you can't live without!!!

Rudi Gernreich...Intergalactic Knitwear

With the economy the way it is today it seems natural for designers to look towards the 30's & 40's for inspiration since that too was an incredibly difficult time, however we feel that dour times don't always call for the drab aesthetics designers seem to be channeling today. Yes our financial climate may be worrisome, and designers are obviously scrambling to fill that void, however this past New York Fashion Week was a sea of emotionless creations, clothing that doesn't necessarily speak to the heart. And while it's a fact that clothing is a necessity, and we all need those fundamental basics, we think that in today's world something with a light-hearted optimistic feel also sounds incredibly viable. And with that sense of fantasy on hiatus from fashion at the moment, and with the world changing at the speed it is, turning to the 60's seems more advantageous to us. After all, the 60's itself was a time of significant societal change in a mangled hap-hazard world, much like today.

Take the prolific, adventurous designs of German born American designer and 60's icon RUDI GERNREICH for instance, while his clothing may have caused quite a controversial stir at one time with their brash forwardness, today they seem to resonate exuberance and a much needed optimistic, youthful joie de vivre. It may be thirty-plus years after it's creation, yet will can't think of anything more felicitous than this red knit dotted & striped contrast Gernreich dress with matching trouser socks.

Vintage Kisses,

Classic Hollywood Oscar Fashions

There's always alot of talk about Red Carpet Fashions during awards season. I admit that I live under a rock in the woods and I don't keep up with current movies. I hope Kate Winslet wins though, I know that she was nominated and I like her - but I don't know much more that that!
I usually check out the red carpet fashions in the news coverage the next day, and I always enjoy the bitchy fashion critiques.

Anyway, I sought out some Classic Hollywood Oscar photos. To me, nothing compares with Old Hollywood. The movies were better, the acting was better. The actors were more interesting and original, and much less annoying than most of those today.
