Project Runway returns!

Project Runway returns this Wednesday night on Bravo, at it's new time 9PM! (thank goodness for the earlier time, I can go to bed earlier now) I'm looking forward to another season of interesting challenges, catty designers, snippy remarks from Michael Kors and horrible outfits worn by Heidi Klum.
I'm not a fan/follower of current designers and high fashion, but I love the challenges and the creativity of this show. Of course, the day after the show you have to go check out all of the blogs to read everyone's take on it. The best to check out are Blogging Project Runway - Project Rungay - Tim's Take (if you can find it) and Manolo's Shoe Blog
I also critique the show in my own little Jersey Girl blog

In honor of the return of Project Runway, I found some vintage items that remind me of last season's winner Christian Siriano. Christian became known for over the top, dramatic clothing with tons of ruffles, puffy sleeves and tailored jackets, as seen in these two photos from his final collection.
Below are some slightly tamer, yet still dramatic vintage items currently for sale by an assortment of fierce sellers. (sorry, I tried not to say it, but I couldn't resist)

Victorian 19th C Mega Mutton Sleeve Wool Jacket
offered by jamiexmas*
From the listing - This jacket dates to the Victorian 19th century and is fashioned of navy colored wool with a fine pinstripe that has a white fleck on the striped weave. A print blue cotton lines the interior with full boning inside. A silk velvet trims the high collar in tabs on either side, the sleeves are massive and mutton full with a turned up cuff at the bottom trimmed in the blue silk velvet with silk velvet banding the bottom waist and a full peplum skirting at the bottom. A faint underarm color is seen beneath either arm but is just a tinge of yellow and is very faint, condition is otherwise excellent. Measures 32 inches around the inner bust, 22 inches around the waist, and 20 inches in length.

VINTAGE 1890's VICTORIAN EDWARDIAN beaded cape mantle
offered by slini

from the listing - FANCIFULL JET BEADED VICTORIAN SHORT CAPELET STUNNING with jet bead trim and black lace
The wool of the cape has a very smooth and soft feel.
Gathered ruffle collar and grosgrain long bow on the front.
This is unusual looking and a wonderful example of the whimsy of this period.

This dress has a sheer striped white top with big puffy sleeves and long fitted cuffs with pearl buttons and lace trim on the ends. Has high fitted neck with more lace. The fitted skirt is black velvet.

From the listing - Vintage late 1960s high style black cocktail dress!
A sheer chiffon overlayer floats over featherweight crepe with an illusion upper bodice. Features a wide waist insert, a trapeze shaped skirt, sheer slightly flared sleeves & the pi├Ęce de resistance is the clever chiffon ruffle trim around the neck, on the sleeve & skirt hems & down the back. Drama is added with the fringey effect on the ruffle edges, this trim reminds me variously of a Russian Princess and a French Poodle.
19" across under arms laid flat, 16 1/2" across top seam, 15 1/2" across waist, Overskirt is 24" long & 63" around the hem
