Project Runway - Inspired by Photos

This week's challenge on Project Runway was to create a dress for a night out on the town. The designers went out into NYC on a rainy night, and they had to take photos that captured the feeling of New York City nightlife. Then they had to choose one of their photos and create an outfit inspired by it.

The winner was Kenley, who says that her design style is a modern 1940s-50s Pin-Up. She's got Betty bangs, usually has a flower in her hair- she has kind of a vintage look in her personal style.

Her inspiration was a photo of a colorful tile, and the dress on the left was her interpretation of it. She used a bold tropical-like print with layers of different colored tulle on one side of the split skirt.

So I went on a search for vintage items inspired by tiles or mosaic, to go along with this week's challenge -
